Our Inaugural Artist for the Manville Artist Showcase
The Manville Arts Council, in partnership with the Manville Borough, recently launched a gallery at Borough Hall featuring work from artists who live and work in Manville.
The Artist Showcase is open to all residents, former residents, and public or private employees within the Borough. The first featured artist is Sean Zujkowski whose photographs will be on display through January.
Zukowski is a Manville local and a member of the Visual Arts technical staff at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Sean uses color film as a way to document the social and physical landscape in which he was born and raised. A book of his work, “Where the Millstone River Drains”, was published in 2023. Zukowski’s work now focuses on the environmental impacts of industrial fallout and worsening extreme weather events on Manville and the surrounding locale.
The Manville Arts Council created the idea for the gallery earlier this year to foster art in the community. Local artists interested in having their work displayed in the Showcase can find the application at manvillearts.org/manville-artist-showcase. Artists of all ages are welcome to submit their work, and there is no fee to participate. Art will be on display on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.
The Manville Artist Showcase is located in Borough Hall at 325 North Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835.
