Find your Zen at our Suminagashi Workshop
Suminagashi Workshop
Saturday, October 22 from 1:00-3:30 pm
Manville Public Library
Originating in Japan in the 12th century, Suminagashi, or "floating ink" is the process of marbling plain paper and turning it into something vibrant and colorful. Today it is practiced around the world and is a wonderful way to play with movement and color.
Participants will learn the history of Suminagashi, the materials needed to create it as well as gain insight into the art form from local artists Amy Ohlson and Heather Ball.
All participants will create and take home a variety of marbled paper and one marbled silk scarf. This workshop is open to adults of all skill levels and there is no experience required to take part. Join us as we explore this ancient meditative process together and create some incredible one-of-a-kind art.
This event is a fundraiser for the Manville Arts Council, a 501c3 local non-profit organization.
